British furniture brand G Plan has collaborated with furniture restorer and TV presenter Jay Blades on a collection that celebrates a shared passion for contemporary design, which is set to launch in May 2023.
Over the years, G Plan has created some of the most enduring and iconic furniture of the 20th century and the Jay Blades X G Plan collection offers a new perspective on timeless design, celebrating craftsmanship and the unexpected details that make a piece of furniture truly unique.
Jay is a long-time admirer of the brand and in his recent book, ‘Making It. How Love, Kindness and Community Helped Me Repair My Life’, he credits a G Plan chair, bought for £40 at a garage sale in Wolverhampton, as the purchase that kickstarted his passion for restoring preloved furniture.

The collection includes distinctive sofa and accent designs that blend G Plan’s years of furniture expertise with Jay’s signature creativity and flair to create furniture packed with personality and a sense of fun.
'Collaborating with G Plan has been a fabulous opportunity to combine our creative ideas and craft something truly unique. I love furniture that gets people talking and we’ve created some wonderful pieces that not only look great, but are a joy to live with' says Jay, adding 'I was truly blown away by the beauty of G Plan’s craft when it came to designing a comfy sofa, they create pieces that I want to spend time in. A sense of home has always been important to me, and I love the fact each piece in the range is named after a place from my East London roots, it makes the collection even more personal and gives it a real sense of purpose.'
Ian Oliver, Group CEO at G Plan, said: 'Jay is our perfect collaboration partner, with a shared passion for contemporary design and considered craftsmanship as well as a love and respect for the G Plan brand. Jay has undoubtedly brought a unique perspective to these new designs, creating a fresh take, with his characteristic flair.'
